re-designing photography article

I decided to redesign my photography article as it didn't look very professional as it just looked like a load of things were put on this double page spread without a second thought, also it wasn't even properly completed as text is missing. This is my original photography spread:

On this spread I am going to change the title design, the red swirls and most of the images all being on one side of the page.

 My first thing to do was to change the font so I found a font which wasn't so hectic as the one I used previously, it still has the element of extra lines coming off of it but in the right places and not as much so it doesn't overlap the text. I got this font of Dafont and was called Bright Young Things.

I have started to add decoration and images onto the spread, hopefully the images will be spread out more when I lay more text in there. The red boxes behind the text have been put there instead of the swirls they still distract you and clearly don't have a purpose for being there so am going to change the red box idea and make the text bolder.

I decided to try a different way of designing the boxes by spreading them out, making them smaller and taking the opacity down so more focus would be on the text than on the red boxes. I am also making the font bolder.

I decided to get rid of the red boxes and relate the background to something which was to do with photography, so I scanned a strip of negative in and placed it on the page diagonally so it would slightly cover the title. The opacity was also taken down on the negative the the text was readable. I then added in more strips and used a tool called skew which allowed me to straighten the negatives out so they didn't look so stretched. The opacity of the one covering the title was smaller than the other oes so it made the title stand out more.

I then changed the title colour to white so the focus wasn't so much on the font itself, yet still captures the readers attention. Bold was also taken off the article so it didn't look like such a heavy read and the only bits that were bold was the beginning paragraph and the first paragraph i the personal response just like a real magazine
